With Garmin working towards releasing the leaked Fenix 7 Pro series and Epix Pro 2 series – can we expect a Quatix 7 Pro series as well?
The Quatix watches are Garmin’s “Marine” smartwatches. They have built in boating applications and can talk directly to and control some Garmin chart-plotters, autopilots and Fusion Stereos. Most of the features and App’s in the Quatix series can be “installed” on the Fenix 7 and Epix Gen 2 series. With the Garmin Marine smart watches you can also upload Marine charts so you have a “on the wrist” backup micro chart-plotter.
Garmin discounting “Old” models
To compound the imminent release of new products – Garmin is discounting the “current” (Old?) Fenix 7 and Epix Gen 2 watches with up to $200 on their US website.
But the Quatix 7 is discounted with $200 as well.
So I think it looks like the Quatix 7 will get a new big brother – the Quatix 7 Pro series.
Among the many Garmin following websites around the internet – there are PLENTY of rumours about Garmin’s upcoming and updated Fenix 7 Pro and Epix 2 Pro watches. The new features seem to be an updated wrist HR sensor and maybe EKG like Apple Watches.
Quatix 7 Pro differences (Speculation)
As a Quatix 7 “old style” owner – I look forward to a potential new Quatix versions. The current Quatix 7 line is a re-mix of Fenix 7 and Epix 2’s. The 2 Quatix models from the Fenix 7 line have the “sunlight enhanced” MIP screen, where the current “mid spec” Garmin Quatix 7 is based on the 47mm Epix Gen 2 with AMOLED screen.
So potentially what is new? If Garmin Quatix Pro 7 series will follow the current lineup of Fenix and Epix mix – we might get the following models:
Quatix 7 Pro – Standard Edition – 47mm case – MIP Screen
Quatix 7X Pro – Solar Edition – 51mm case – solar charge – MIP Screen
Quatix 7 Pro – Sapphire Edition – 47mm case – AMOLED Display
Quatix 7X pro – Sapphire Solar Edition – 51mm case – AMOLED Display and Solar charge?
The solar charge addition – I’m not certain about it – but leaks show a Epix Pro (G2) with Solar in the 51mm case size.
Of the above the Quatix 7X Pro would be the “new kid” on the block with big improvements over current Quatix 7 AMOLED. Leaked specs say up to 31 days of battery life (up from 16 on the Quatix 7 AMOLED) using the “auto display on/off”. With display on all the time – battery life would be 11 days which is huge.
All the new devices seem to share Garmin’s new Wrist HR sensor – the “Garmin Elevate Gen 5” sensor which seem to have even more LED’s to detect your heart rate.
Some leaks also say the Epix 51mm Pro will have the LED flashlight option from the Quatix 7X model. That would be handy as well. The Flashlight is rumoured to have both a white light, red light and an SOS mode. Perfect for on a boat!
All the above is purely speculation on our part based on the potential release of the Garmin Fenix/Epix Pro leaks.
Leaks are a bit all over the place but some say release is imminent – potentially with pre-orders stating end of May for Fenix/Epix Pro and delivery maybe not until latter part of June.
